The variant break-up of the upcoming refreshed Maruti Suzuki Ciaz has leaked online. The facelift for the mid-size sedan, scheduled to launch on August 20, will be available in the same four trim levels as the pre-facelift model – Sigma, Delta, Zeta and Alpha.
The leak also confirms our previous report that the Ciaz facelift will get a mild-hybrid system, which Maruti calls Smart Hybrid, on the new 1.5-litre petrol engine and the 1.3-litre diesel motor. Like the pre-facelift model, the new Ciaz gets an automatic transmission, which will only be available with the petrol engine, while the diesel will continue with the five-speed manual. The Fiat-sourced diesel engine is expected to be replaced at a later date with a new 1.5-litre diesel mill that is currently under development.
The leaked document has also revealed that the Ciaz facelift will be offered with near-identical colour options. Numbering seven, the exterior finishes include blue, black, brown, red, white, grey and silver. The latter two colours will be slightly different shades that were available on the outgoing model.
Besides the new petrol engine and mild-hybrid tech, the Ciaz facelift gets exterior tweaks such as LED headlamps and tail-lamps (on higher-spec trims), a slightly different front bumper and a new grille shape with a chrome garnish on higher-spec variants. There are also new-design alloy wheels on offer, though the wheel size is expected to be the same – 15-inchers on the lower-spec trims and 16-inchers on the top-spec model.
The insides of the new Ciaz is more or less the same as the pre-facelift model, though there is a new faux-wood trim on the dashboard and a new colour display instrument cluster of offer, along with features such as adjustable rear head rests and cruise control. The Suzuki Connect app, which is offered on all Nexa cars, will come as standard.
