Updated India-spec Honda Jazz to get no styling changes

The updated Honda Jazz will launch on July 19, 2018. While Honda had revealed a facelifted Jazz in international markets, the updated car for India will not carry the new styling.

The Jazz facelift sold abroad gets sharper-looking and larger bumpers that push its length to 4.1m; while the Honda Jazz sold in India is 3,955mm long, allowing it to comfortably duck the sub-four-meter rule and qualify for a lower excise duty slab. Additionally, developing another facelift for the Jazz just for India would add extra costs, which may not be justified given the sales volume for this model in our market.

The updated India-spec Honda Jazz, however, will get quite a few equipment changes, as reported by us earlier. Honda will sell its new hatchback in four petrol and three diesel variants, although the engine-gearbox options will remain the same.

The new Jazz will get dual front airbags, parking sensors, and ABS with EBD as standard across all its trims. Honda will also add a long-overdue top-trim for the petrol CVT; but there will be no diesel CVT, as offered on the new Amaze. Equipment levels get a bump with a new centre armrest for the front row, push-button start, power boot release, cruise control and a 7.0-inch infotainment screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The removal of Magic Seats in the Jazz is a disappointment – referring to a trick folding seat mechanism that was available on the top-spec variant of the hatchback, earlier.

Honda dealers are expected to start bookings for the updated Jazz on July 15, 2018.
