Pininfarina PF0 previewed ahead of Pebble Beach debut

Automobili Pininfarina has shown a glimpse of its next project, to be revealed in concept form at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance during Monterey Car Week, later in the summer. Named 'PF0', the hypercar concept will be one in Pininfarina's range of premium, high-performance EVs. The EV will follow Pininfarina’s blueprint of limited-production ultra-luxury hypercars. It is not yet known if any of these cars will seat more than two people.

Pininfarina, having been acquired by Mahindra in 2015, will receive some technical input from Mahindra’s Formula E team concerning the PF0's powertrain – under the watch of newly appointed CEO Michael Perschke. The rest of the coachbuilder's board have been handpicked from across the industry – including Jaguar Land Rover, Volvo, Bugatti and McLaren.

In conversation with Mahindra group chairman, Anand Mahindra, our sister publication, Autocar UK, was informed that Automobili Pininfarina's hypercar will draw “upon the pedigree and design vocabulary of the Pininfarina aesthetic heritage" to "develop a rare collector’s item that only a handful of connoisseurs will ever own".

He went on to say that it will "be an innovative and pioneering product powered by high technology" that will combine "power, beauty and high-end EV technology”.

The PF0's power is likely to match that of the Bugatti Chiron. Although, given the car’s bespoke nature, it is more of an answer to the recently announced Bugatti Divo – a coach-built, track-focused limited-run hypercar which is based on the Chiron’s tub and engine.
