The highly puissant supercharged Mustang produced by Ford Performance will participate in the Goodwood Festival of Speed, next month, primed with its unique Royal Air Force livery. The Eagle Squadron Mustang GT produces 710hp from an uprated 5.0-litre V8.
The car is dedicated to American pilots who voluntarily served in the RAF during World War II before the US had officially joined the conflict. It has been co-developed with American competition car specialist RTR Vehicles and features an RTR carbon-fibre wide-body kit, as well as an uprated suspension set-up. A single overhead image of the car hints at the quintessential muscle we have come to expect from the American carmaker.
“Goodwood’s RAF Westhampnett hosted US air force squadrons [during World War II], so it is completely appropriate to have the car here in this, our silver jubilee year, while the RAF celebrates its centenary,” said the Duke of Richmond and Gordon, founder of the Goodwood Festival.
After the car’s first appearance at Goodwood, it will head to an aircraft fundraiser event in Wisconsin, US, where it will be auctioned, to raise money for youth education programmes in the region.
This one-off Ford Mustang arrives soon after the special-edition 2018 Mustang Bullitt was announced for sale. The car, unveiled in January, this year, is inspired by the original 1968 Mustang featured in the famous Steve McQueen film.
