As reported by us earlier, MG Motor India will introduce its first product in our market, the Baojun 530-based SUV sometime next year. The company is also planning to introduce more models in the market in the future and is now conducting relevant tests on some of its products that are sold in international markets.
Sources tell us that MG Motor India has imported multiple vehicles, including a sedan, an electric SUV, and a small electric car called the Baojun E100 which has been spied for the first time on Indian soil. However, it is unlikely that the vehicles will come to MG Motor India showrooms anytime soon.
The E100 was launched in China in August 2017 and is manufactured by SAIC – the parent company of MG Motor via the SAIC-GM-Wuling conglomerate. The small EV is just 2,488mm long (that's 676mm shorter than a Tata Nano), 1,506mm wide, 1,617mm tall and weighs around 800kg. It can reach a maximum speed of 100kph and has a 200km range.
The car also offers Bluetooth connectivity via an in-vehicle PAD, an automatic pedestrian warning switch and an intelligent lock function on charging equipment, as well as power-folding mirrors and a parking camera.
The Baojun E100 small EV is on sale in select cities in China and has seen sales of over 2,100 units since its launch.
